Give your team an unforgettable experience that blends fitness, teamwork and adrenaline. The Westies Corporate Challenge transforms your colleagues from novices into a racing crew in just 4 weeks, culminating in a thrilling 500-metre regatta against other crews in the Telethon Corporate Cup on the Canning Bridge Course. The West Australian Rowing Club (WARC) proposes a 4-week Learn-to-Row Program designed specifically for corporate teams seeking a high‑impact team-building, wellbeing, and leadership-development experience.

What’s Included

  • Twelve coached training sessions over four weeks, held three times per week.

  • Scheduled sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

  • Coaching by experienced WARC coaches, with two coaches allocated per crew.

  • Use of an eight-oared racing shell (8+), rowing equipment and supporting club facilities.

  • Ergometer training and analysis clinic.

  • Risk management, insurance and on-water safety supervision.

  • Regatta entry fees, officials and event hospitality.

  • Team Requirements – Each corporate entry should nominate a crew of 10–12 people to cover illness, travel or work commitments. All participants must be aged 18–70, with minimum requirements:

  • Participants: Swimming competency 50m continuous

  • Crew Manager: One point of contact to liaise with WARC

  • Commitment: Minimum 80% attendance recommended for best results

The Program

Our standard program is 4 weeks with 3 sessions per Week (12 coached sessions total). WARC can design the program to cater for the needs of your business and members; please discuss options with the Head Coach.

Phase 1: Foundations in Small Boats (Week 1)

Location: Trinity College Rowing Club (TCRC).

Focus areas: Water safety and rowing fundamentals. Individual skill development with personalised coaching in stabilised single sculls.

Why small boats first: Builds confidence, skill development, body awareness and fast-tracks technique before entering bigger team boats.

Phase 2: Team Rowing & Crew Development (Week 2-4)

Location: West Australian Rowing Club, Riverside Drive, Perth CBD.

Focus: Transition into eights, crew rhythm, boat cohesion.

Why: Teamwork, fitness, developing unity and shared purpose.

Phase 3: The Corporate Regatta, Saturday 10 October 2026

Regatta racing !

Location: Rowing WA, Canning Bridge

Focus: Race against other Corporate Crews on the picturesque Canning Bridge 500m course, in support of Telethon.


Investment

The cost is $12,000 per crew to be involved.

Pricing is calculated based on the high-performance coaching, equipment usage, safety craft, insurance and shed fees at TCBC and WARC.
