The overarching aim of WARC is to become the best rowing club in Western Australia, meaning not only achieving the best results on the water but also to be an efficiently-run club capable of catering to the membership in the best way possible.

As a result, WARC has excellent coaches, a loyal and successful membership base and a range of programs to cater to all levels of ability.

During the club season (March-September) the Club runs a competitive State-based program where athletes of all ages and abilities train together with the common goal of representing the WA Rowing Club at the annual State Championships in September.

During the "off-season" (September-March), the club runs a dual program with different goals.

The first program is the club's highly-successful Summer Nationals Program, which is aimed primarily at U23 athletes aiming to compete at a national level. This program includes athletes who have been identified through the National Talent Identification program, run by Rowing Australia and Rowing WA. This 2010-2011 season marks the fourth year of the Summer Nationals Program, which has previously resulted in a number of athletes achieving medals at a national level, and two athletes being selected to represent Australia on the international stage.

The second off-season program is the less-intense Casual Summer Rowing Program which involves all other club members with a level of ability in the sport, including rowers who have completed a Learn To Row program. The Casual Summer Rowing Program provides a development period for athletes to hone their bladework, fitness and explore other aspects of the sport outside the club competitive season.

From time to time, the club also runs comprehensive Learn to Row courses and a corporate regatta called the Lord Mayor’s Cup which will mark its 21th anniversary next year.

We also run occasional Skippers Tickets courses, and gives willing athletes access to coaching courses for members through Rowing WA to enable them to take their sport further. And of course, we have brilliant fun at regular social events.

WARC has members of all ages, from 13 to 80 (seriously!) and we work to cater to all, tailoring programs specifically for individual demographics.

Many WARC members are professionals who work in Perth’s central business district and rowing programs are tailored to make training as time-effective for professional works as possible.

The club is also working effectively as a function centre and the spectacular River Room is home to a special Wesley College school program during the school term, as well as providing an increasingly-popular venue for all sorts of functions, from weddings to after-work drinks.
